China Zorrilla was an Uruguayan actress, director and playwright. She was born on March 14, 1922 in Montevideo, Uruguay and grew up in a wealthy family. Zorrilla began acting at a young age, but it wasn't until later in life that she became a household name in Uruguay and Latin America. She was known for her strong personality and dedication to the arts, and in addition to her work in theater, she also appeared in films and on television. Some of her most famous roles include the 1985 Uruguayan film "Elsa & Fred" and the Spanish television series "Grand Hotel." Zorrilla passed away on September 17, 2014 in Montevideo, at the age of 92. She is remembered as a cultural icon in Uruguay and a trailblazer for women in the arts.
